Our 2017 New England Baseball Guide

For many of you, you’re still shoveling out. But believe it or not, baseball season starts on Monday. The Red Sox kick their campaign on Monday. But there’s a lot more baseball you can watch near you this summer. To help you find games near you, we’ve compiled our 2017 New England Baseball Guide. It’s a complete list of professional, college, and amateur summer teams in the six New England states. Massachusetts

Boston Red Sox

Fenway Park, 4 Yawkey Way, Boston, MA

Home Opener – April 3 at 2:05 pm

The Red Sox will open their 2017 campaign against the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 3rd. The biggest change that fans will notice will be the Tully Tavern in the right field grandstand. The area will feature a full service bar, and terraces with stools. You’ll also be able to charge your phone there. There will also be a new video board in right field that will let fans in the center field bleachers and the Monster Seats to watch replays without craning their necks, or looking behind them. Getting to Fenway will be on the pricey side, but it’s an experience you’ll want to experience with your kids you’ll never forget.

Girl Scout Day is May 28th, and Boy Scout day is also May 28th.

 

Lowell Spinners (Short Season Single-A Boston Red Sox)

LeLacheur Park, 450 Aiken St., Lowell, MA 01854

Home Opener – June 19th at 6:35 pm

Tickets for the Spinners range from $7 to $10. Prices go up $2 on gameday, so you’ll want to purchase yours online in advance.

LeLacheur Park also features the Foul Ball Fun Zone for the kids – with games, carnival rides and “the Gator Gondola.”

Home Opener – April 10th at 6:05 pm

Tickets for the Pawsox start at $9 ($6 for kids and seniors). It’s a great value to see players just a step away from the big leagues. The site of the longest game in professional baseball history was completely renovated in 1998.

The controversial Dunkin’ Donuts Park will open on April 13th.

Home Opener – April 6th at 7:05 pm

Perhaps the coolest hotel rooms in New England are at the Hilton Garden Inn Manchester. The hotel literally overlooks center field at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, and their outdoor patio deck puts you practically on the field.

They also have a play area for the kids in right field, and the Sam Adams Brewhouse restaurant in left field.

Maine

Portland Seadogs (Double-A Boston Red Sox)

Home Opener – April 6th at 6:00 pm

Tickets for the Seadogs run from $11 to $14. Hadlock Field is located right off I-95 in Portland. It features “the Maine Monster,” a wooden replica of the Green Monster.

Vermont

Vermont Lake Monsters (Short Season Single-A Oakland Athletics)

Home Opener – June 21st, time TBD.

Located on the University of Vermont campus, Centennial Field is actually six years older than Fenway Park – opening in 1906. Prices range from $5 to $15.

Scout Night To Be Announced. 2016 night was June 25th.

Division I College Baseball Guide

College baseball games generally have free admission. They may or may not have concession stands. They usually play nine inning-games two or three times a week, and seven-inning doubleheaders on the weekends. The season runs until May.

If you’re looking to watch baseball at Fenway on a budget, you can check out the Baseball Beanpot, with the first round doubleheader featuring BC, Harvard, Northeastern and UMass on April 19th. The consolation game starts at 3 pm, and all tickets are $10.

College Summer League Baseball Guide

Over the summer, some of the finest collegiate players from all over the country come to New England to play in one of the various summer leagues. The players aren’t paid, and usually live with host families, take part-time jobs, and also wind up doing field maintenance. The Cape Cod League is one of the most prestigious in the country, and was actually featured in a movie.
